Welcom to opening thursday september 10, 17-1830 gmt+2, at http://slurl.com/SecondLife/Phyllira/169/139/90.
Here Gillion Grantsaan will introduce Avatar Login & his friends inside Second Life (SL)
The show is open until september 23, 2009.
The artist states:
The antic myth, African, Asian, Greek etc; is a framework on which we continuously weave new variations. This was so in the good old days as it is today. Myth lay bare the motifs of writers, sculptures and musicians. Myths give form to believes and questions that roam around in the public consciousness. Myths record and translate changing morals in changing media in changing times. Myths are ever changing stories in a loop of repeating doubt, uncertainty, fear and hope that we can and will be able to understand this cycle that we call life.
In the old days in Europe, they had Shakespeare and Michelangelo to bring to life, a second life in which we could collectively wonder around and build fantasies on top of the fantasy of the story tellers. But to enjoy this, one had to get out of the house, go to the theatre or visit a church and later learn to read and go to a library or a museum. Now in the age IKEA, the age of democratic culture and DIY. The only thing you have to do is log-in. Log-in and create you and your friends, on your tube, your space, your face, your book, your story, your avatar.
Boom Pearls is a project curated in SL 2007-2009. Gillion Grantsaan is the last artist in the series.
